This Week On Instagram (March 2-8)

March 2-8
I’ve decided to start something new1 by doing a “Week In Instagram Photos” post. Starting with last week, March 2-8.
From top left to bottom right:

  • We started a No Spend challenge. That means only bills, gas, and grocery shopping2.
  • We had tickets for the zoo, so we packed up some snacks and the camera for a day of fun. The weather was amazing.
  • We gave up eating out for lent3! It’s a great time to start eating healthy. We both tried asparagus for the first time. Yes, we loved it!
  • I never received my decal for the Jeep, so I had to drive up to the DMV. Fancy, isn’t it?
  • I just had to make my own Duck Tape Table! I want to sit at it all the time…4

What did you do last week? What plans do you have for the upcoming week?

  1. to me, at least []
  2. once a week []
  3. Like it’s not already a big NO during our No Spend challenge. []
  4. Can’t you tell? I’m actually blogging! []

Ivy’s First Zoo Trip

8:08pm. Since we moved to the city, I’ve been working pretty much¬†every¬†Saturday. We have been making the best of the weekends by trying to do family things when I get off. The weather was beautiful this weekend! It reached a high of 73, which made going out perfect. Yesterday, we took the kids to the park, and today we made our way to the zoo!

It was Ivy’s first time visiting the zoo, and JJ’s second. Here are a few highlights from our day.

We managed to make it through the entire park without Ivy getting cranky. I’m just glad that everyone enjoyed the outing. What did you do this weekend?

DIY: Family Photos

7:05pm. It’s a new year and the perfect time for family photos. The best part about owning a dSLR is the ability to take my own. This year, I saved hundreds of dollars by shooting my own.

I have to admit that my first family shoot was a bit challenging. I hung a sheet on a bare wall in the dining room and set up the tripod. I’m so glad that I invested in a remote, as it made a job a bit easier.

What Did I Forget?

Well…. I forgot to make sure the camera was fully charged, and I forgot to get extra batteries for the flash. I also could have used an extra person to keep Ivy’s attention, lol. I still ended up getting quite a few shots, though.

P.S. A lot of my FB friends thought these were professionally done, but I guess I’m my own worst critic. We’ll be doing more photos soon.

Back Again (Birthday Edition)

9:45pm. I’m back once again, and hopefully I’m here to stay. I’ve been having a love/hate relationship with the MacBook I purchased back in 2008. From not being able to update the software, to swapping out hard drives. I finally upgraded to an iMac1.

January was such a busy month. Both JJ and Ivy celebrated their birthdays. JJ requested a TMNT2 cake. Specifically, he chose Donnie. I was extremely sick, but I pressed on to get a cake made. This was officially my FIRST “specialty” cake!
Two days later, we had Ivy’s first birthday. I decided to do a number cake3. Everyone loved this one! I was feeling much better and it definitely showed, lol!

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about having two children with their birthdays only two days apart, but now I think it’s great! I don’t have to worry about birthdays for a whole year! Other than that, Ivy is starting to walk. Work is work. Life is life. I’m pretty sure I’ll have plenty more to write about soon.

So much has happened in so little time.

It has been almost an entire week since Thanksgiving! The holiday was fun. It was great seeing my family. We got the chance to take another family portrait.

It was also the day that baby girl turned 10 months old! She’s getting so big. Four teeth… Crawling and standing… Full of attitude…

I have so many more things to update you on. Soon…very soon.
